Halloween in Notting Hill London

Halloween is one of my favourite events of the autumn calendar- and the entire year, really. For many years, I’d have this specific schedule in place, with designated days during September-October for planning Halloween-themed food, Halloween-themed outfits; I’d be searching up Halloween events and of course- where to find the cutest spots to celebrate! I just cannot get enough of going over the top on any and every thing whenever and wherever possible.

This year, I came up with a brilliant idea: I’d skip planning Halloween. I know- I just spent the last couple of minutes writing to you guys about how much I love to plan everything, etc. But if I am being completely honest with you guys, somewhere in-between all that planning every year, I’d lose myself, and Halloween would become a sort of mission: take photos here, there, here, there… go to this makeup-artist, wear this, shop for this, go here, not there… and it became a little too much.

I’d visited Notting Hill last year for Halloween, and had admired the incredible efforts some people put into decorating their houses (it reminds me a lot of the years I lived in Texas, where each neighbour would compete against the other for the prize of best-looking Halloween and Christmas homes), but beyond deciding whereabouts to walk around, I was keen to plan nothing. And so I did!

For clothing, I grabbed a simple striped jumper from Topshop from my closet, and paired it with easy M.i.h jeans, beige corduroy jacket (for the cold), Miu Miu rhinestone shoes and my Off White belt, finishing off the mis-matched outfit with my mini cross-body Louis Vuitton, which is perfect for all those casual days out. I didn’t want to put hours of effort into planning and dressing up for a Halloween-themed outfit, but at the same time I liked the idea of wearing something fun, mis-matched, and a little bit quirky. It was a last-minute decision, but somehow my jumper matched with all the pumpkins!

The day turned out to be perfect, with Arax and I wandering sort of aimlessly around, before grabbing my beloved matcha latte from Juice Baby, my favourite stop for them, and a bite to eat. Along the way we found some new and old Halloweenie houses, made dog friends, and had a lot of laughs in between. Sometimes the most spontaneous days out are the best ones.
